Physical Education at San Anton School

Present Programme - Senior Sector

Physical Education Core: Grades 8 - 11

Foundation Programme Grades 8 & 9

Two Year course where pupils learn 8 different disciplines (Athletics, Baseball, Basketball, Football, Gymnastics, Handball, Hockey, Volleyball).

Activities are broken down into step by step components and reasons are given as to why techniques are tackled out in a particular way. Pupils are challenged not necessarily to perform better than others, but to perform to the best of their ability.

Comprehensive Programme Grades 10& 11

In these two years pupils will continue to master the techniques of various disciplines however, now the concept of skills is introduced. This refers to the knowledge one has to identify which technique needs to be used given a specific situation. This is achieved mainly through game situations.

                                      Physical Education Option: Grades 10 - 12

The P.E. Dept. offers a comprehensive programme leading to an anticipated Matsec in P.E. whereby Pupils are assessed on two Papers:
